microchipping mandatory

Microchipping Your Cat is Essential: Ensuring Safety, Compliance, and Peace of Mind

Just like dogs, cats now need to be microchipped. The primary reason for this is permanent identification, as microchips cannot be removed or lost. If your cat goes missing, a microchip significantly increases the chances of a happy reunion with your family.

Microchips also help resolve disputes, serving as proof of ownership if your cat is ever stolen or if ownership is questioned.

Additionally, microchips can be used with some cat flaps, ensuring only your pet can access your home!

*The new regulations require that cats be microchipped before they are 20 weeks old, with their contact information recorded and maintained in a pet microchipping database. All cat owners must ensure their pets are microchipped by 10 June 2024. Those who do not comply will have 21 days to get their cat microchipped or potentially face a fine of up to £500. You can read more here.
